Ihram is word derived from word Haram which means forbidden, when Muslim men or women worn it there are certain limitation they have to follow otherwise they have to pay penalty. Ihram is the attire Muslim worn during hajj or Umrah, it consists of two piece of white sheet one is used to cover lower part and the other is for upper part of the body. You have to know about these acts before you book the cheapest Affordable Umrah packages. When one enters in the state of ihram following are the twenty-five Halal acts forbidden for him. These things are:
Marriage and sexual relations: Both male and female pilgrims are not allowed to get married or have sexual relations while in the state of ihram. Anyone who gratifies himself/herself has to pay penalty which could be sacrificing animals like camel, cow or sheep depending on the kind of misdemeanour. Depending on the offence, the pilgrimage has to be done again sometimes.
Acts that are against Ihram
Hunting land animals: When you are in the state of ihram, you are not allowed to hunt any land animals. Hajj or Umrah are religious duties that every Muslim wants to do for Allah Almighty. When Allah SWT calls you to his house, you don’t need to look in the mirror because HE knows us better than we know ourselves and we don’t need any makeup to go in front of HIM. Only our good deeds make us beautiful in HIS eyes.
Pilgrims are not allowed to use perfume in any way. Perfume refers to anything that is used to add a scent to the body, clothes, or food. You can’t put it on your body, wear it, or even smell it. Do not wear clothes that smell like perfume and do not eat smelly foods like garlic, onions, etc., except for the saffron-based perfume used to cover the Kabah. Soap and Shampoo: Pilgrims can’t use scented soaps and shampoos while in ihram, but they can use soap, hand wash, sanitizer, or shampoo that doesn’t have a scent.
Acts that are against Ihram
Cursing and fighting with other people: Hajj or Umrah is the most important thing for every Muslim man and woman, and if you are able to do it, don’t waste your time on useless things. Instead, spend your time praying and asking Allah to forgive you a lot. Pilgrims can’t curse each other or fight with each other because Islam doesn’t think these are good things to do.
Killing insects on one’s body: When someone enters the state of ihram, they must clean themselves. Because of this, it is forbidden to kill mosquitoes or flies on one’s body because it could leave a stain or insect blood, which is forbidden in ihram. Don’t do that while you are in ihram.
Putting on makeup: The goal of hajj and umrah is to please God, so it is not okay to put on any kind of makeup or cosmetics while in the state of ihram.
Touching or kissing the woman: In ihram, any kind of physical contact with a woman is forbidden, and if someone breaks this rule, he or she must pay a fine.
Getting rid of body hair: After putting on Ihram, you can’t get rid of any hair on your body.
Clipping the nail: When you enter the state of ihram, don’t cut your nails. This is a forbidden act that Allah Almighty has told you not to do.
Pulling out the teeth: Pilgrims are not allowed to do this because it could lead to bleeding, which is not allowed in ihram. During the state of ihram, you can’t carry weapons or do masturbation. Putting kohl in your eyes and oil on your body are also against the rules.
Having blood come out of one’s body: Take care of your wounds so they don’t bleed when you’re in Ihram. It’s not allowed to bleed at all while in Ihram. Men are not allowed to cover their heads, protect themselves from the sun or rain, or wear clothes that have been sewn. Male pilgrims are not allowed to wear socks or hats that cover their feet or heads. During the state of ihram, women must not cover their faces.
In the state of ihram, you can do the following:
- In ihram, you can scratch your head as long as you don’t pull or break your hair. If you break your head or beard hair while combing with your fingers, you have to give a handful of grains to the poor. If this happens during ablution, you don’t have to do anything.
- Pilgrims can use any unscented cream or lotion for medical purposes, and they can clean themselves with unscented soap and shampoo.
- During ihram, you can wear rings as long as they are not for decoration.
- Male pilgrims are allowed to use safety pins and clips to tie their ihram together so it doesn’t fall off their shoulders. They can also use a money belt or a regular belt with stitches.
- Pilgrims can also eat fruit and vegetables that smell good, like apples, melons, coriander, and so on.
- Pilgrims who are in ihram can cover their bodies with blankets or quilts except for their heads.
- Pilgrims can wear an ihram even if the edges are stitched.
- You shouldn’t use a comb unless you’re sure it won’t make your hair fall out.
- Male pilgrims, on the other hand, are not allowed to cover themselves from the sun or rain. However, they are allowed to use elevators in buildings while in the state of ihram.
- Women and children can ride in a vehicle that has a roof to protect them from the sun or rain. Men can also do it for medical reasons, but if they do, they have to pay a fine.
- In the state of ihram, it is not allowed to look in a mirror. However, a driver who needs to look in the rearview or side mirrors is allowed to do so.
- It is okay for pilgrims to bring cameras.
- In the state of ihram, you can use any kind of glass.
- In ihram, you can look in the mirrors at the sink, in the bathroom, or in the elevator as long as you’re not doing it to look better.
- Pilgrims can scratch their bodies or remove dry skin from their lips as long as it doesn’t make them bleed.
