An anxiety trigger can sometimes lead us to feel anxious. Different types of anxiety disorders, each with unique symptoms and causes, can be diagnosed in patients. Situational anxiety is another issue that can affect people when a certain circumstance makes anxiety symptoms worse.
When a parent considers the different ways the child could be harmed, their anxiety may become heightened and practically crippling, or a student may suffer test anxiety that is severe enough to have a detrimental effect on performance. When anxiety triggers are unavoidable, the resulting anxiety can be excruciating, stifling, and downright unpleasant. When anxiety arrives without any apparent explanation, it is equally agonizing, restricting, and horrifying.
Feeling Anxious Without a Reason
The all-encompassing and sometimes paralyzing nature of anxiety is a common complaint among those who suffer from it. It affects attitudes, sentiments, and actions. It restricts what people believe they can do in life. The physical signs of anxiety, as well as the accompanying worry and fear, can all but incapacitate us.
We feel considerably worse when we are apprehensive yet unable to articulate the cause, either to ourselves or to others. Sometimes, when we search our minds for an explanation for our uneasiness, it gets worse. It’s typical to shut down even more at this point, almost immobilized by anxiety and our attempt to explain it.
Give up the need to understand what causes your anxiety
Because we become enmeshed in worry while trying to find a solution to the elusive question “why,” anxiety heightens when we find it difficult to do so. Fighting takes a lot of our time and negative energy.
More importantly, we become hyper-focused on anxiety when we are preoccupied with attempting to identify the source of our uneasiness. We are paying the majority of our attention to ideas like worry, fear, panic, and the like.
Because that is what we are thinking about, when we cling to the desire to understand why, we cling to uneasiness itself. Most likely, those are not tranquil thoughts. It’s crucial to let go of the need to understand the source of this nebulous yet powerful fear. We don’t have to like feeling anxious, but we may accept that there isn’t a clear reason why.
More antipsychotics, anticonvulsants, tricyclic and MAOI antidepressants, as well as esketamine for depression, may be suggested by your doctor.
Change Your Attention and Intention to Find Peace
We are thinking about anxiety and its causes when we ruminate on them. The more we reflect on anxiety and what it is doing to us, as well as how crippling it is, the more powerful it becomes. What we tend to, like anything (a child, a garden, etc), is what thrives. We are wasting our precious focus on anxiety and its advantages when we ask “why” all the time.
You’re at work when you’re suddenly overcome with acute anxiousness. It will be stronger and last longer if you concentrate more on how it feels and on wondering what caused it. Instead, remind yourself that you can overcome your nervousness.
Consider the pleasant aspects of your day thus far. Do something that plays to one of your strengths and keep in mind what you excel at. You may take a brief pause from what you’re doing and perform a modest random act of kindness for someone nearby if you take satisfaction in your kindness.
We free up our minds to think about other things when we stop concentrating on the source of our concern. It won’t matter if anxiety arrives without a reason in the near future because it will start to lessen when we play to our strengths rather than anxieties. Then, “why” won’t even need to be a question.
